Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina in their wonderful book, Becoming Raw indicate that when plant foods are juiced or blended, fermented or sprouted, cells are broken, releasing phytase.

All of these processes allow the release of bound calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc from these phytate-mineral complexes so that our bodies can easily extract and absorb the minerals when the food reaches the intestine.”

To replenish and sustain your proper alkaline and acid reserves, try to eat 80% of your foods from the alkaline list and 20% from the acid forming list of organic raw foods: We want you to consider adding your local alkaline foods to our list. Please let us know your favorites by leaving them as comments, below.

A wonderful naturopath in Hurricane, Utah shared how he walks through meadows and supermarkets and when he finds himself staring at a particular colored flower, fruit or vegetable, he realizes that his natural selection has picked something that he is deficient in.

The book Biological Transmutation, by the French genius Kirvran, teaches how our bones are made not from calcium (even though they have calcium in them) but from potassium, magnesium and silica-containing foods which pick up hydrogen, oxygen and carbon from free floating elements in our bodies and the combination of those turn into bone calcium.

We should not be taking TUMS, or calcium supplements in any form, but should just be restricting our protein intake to 2-3 ounces of those foods at a time, and if we just eat a variety with a plant based diet, we will get everything we need in a balanced order.

If you’re going to get to a healthy weight, ask yourself these 10 questions first!

To be clear, there are many reasons why people put on extra body weight, including under-active thyroid, sugar addictions, trace minerals depletion, vitamin D deficiencies and more.

If you’re going to set some weight management goals, I strongly advise you to first take care of all the basics by asking yourself these ten powerful questions:

#1) Are you taking enough vitamin D yet? Without vitamin D, weight loss almost never works. (I take 5,000 – 10,000 IUs daily. You should research the right dose for you.)

#2) Have you stopped drinking liquid sugars yet? If you’re still drinking corn syrup (sodas), forget about weight loss. You first need to quit the soda habit.

#3) Are you consuming enough fresh fruit and vegetables? Are you juicing yet? You’ll need to do both of these things on a regular basis.

#4) Are you exercising yet? You’ll need a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise every day to start dropping pounds. This can be brisk walking, swimming or cycling. Weight training is also very valuable if you do it safely.

#5) Have you addressed the emotional reasons why you overeat? Inside every person who isn’t happy with their body weight is someone who still has some emotional stuff to work out. Get some support from friends, family or professionals. Find out WHY you tend to overeat. Explore your habits and behavioral patterns. Are there certain things that trigger over-eating?

#6) Do you have enough trace minerals in your system? Many people who crave “salty snacks” are actually extremely deficient in minerals. They crave salt (minerals), but they misinterpret the craving as a desire to eat empty calories. Your body needs a certain level of minerals to function, and when it lacks those minerals, it will generate internal cravings to motivate you to try to find them. People who make an effort to supplement trace minerals (and quality full-spectrum salts) often find their cravings for salty snacks literally vanish.

#7) Have a reason WHY you wish to achieve the best weight for yourself. You need an emotional “anchor” to give you the behavioral leverage to get there. Are you losing weight to feel better about yourself? To improve your longevity? To be more physically attractive? To compete with a sibling or friend? To go to a class reunion or wedding? Figure out your top reason for wanting to achieve your weight goals and use that reason as leverage to guide you in that direction.

#8) Have you committed the TIME to realistically accomplish your weight loss goals? You’ll need to set aside the time for exercise as well as time for fresh food preparation. Figure a minimum if one hour per day, and it can easily be two hours total.

#9) Do you have the support of your family and friends? It’s very important to discuss your goals with your immediate family and get their support. If you’re trying to lose weight, they need to refrain from baking cookies and filling the house with that aroma, for example. They need to verbally support your efforts and not tease you or discourage you. Have a serious talk before you begin.

#10) Prepare yourself to be hungry and know that it’s okay. If you eat every time you feel hungry, you will never achieve your weight loss goals. Dropping excess body fat will absolutely require experiencing feelings of hunger. Know that hunger does not mean you are dying. You’re gonna be fine. Don’t let your body trick you into thinking you desperately need to intake more calories. Become familiar with a bit of hunger and learn to live with it during your weight loss journey. It’s okay to feel hungry! Cowboy up and move on.

HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR MEMORY? MAYBE YOU’RE HAVING TOO MUCH SUGAR.

By Dr. Mercola

It’s a fact that excess dietary fructose can harm your body by setting up the conditions for diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver, but what does it do to your brain? Studies have not addressed this question – until now.

A new UCLA study is the first to show how a steady diet high in fructose can damage your memory and learning.

Researchers investigated the effects of high-fructose syrup, similar to high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), a cheap sweetener six times sweeter than cane sugar, which is used in most soft drinks, processed foods, condiments, and even many baby foods.

The team sought to study the effects of a steady intake of this super-processed, concentrated form of fructose, which is quite dissimilar from the naturally occurring fructose in fruits. They fed rats a fructose solution as drinking water for six weeks, then tested their ability to remember their way out of a maze. The results certainly grabbed the researchers’ attention.

Too Much Sugar Makes You Stupid!

The rats fed fructose syrup showed significant impairment in their cognitive abilities—they struggled to remember their way out of the maze. They were slower, and their brains showed a decline in synaptic activity. Their brain cells had trouble signaling each other, disrupting the rats’ ability to think clearly and recall the route they’d learned six weeks earlier.

Additionally, the fructose-fed rats showed signs of resistance to insulin, a hormone that controls your blood sugar and synaptic function in your brain. Because insulin is able to pass through your blood-brain barrier, it can trigger neurological processes that are important for learning and memory.

Consuming large amounts of fructose may block insulin’s ability to regulate how your brain cells store and use sugar for the energy needed to fuel thoughts and emotions. The average American consumes roughly 47 pounds of cane sugar and 35 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup per year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Conclusion: Researchers concluded that a high fructose diet harms your brain, as well as the rest of your body.

The Protective Effects of DHA

A second group of rats was given omega-3 fatty acids in the form of flaxseed oil and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), in addition to the high fructose diet. After six weeks, this group of rats was able to navigate the maze better and faster than the rats in the non-DHA group.

The researchers concluded that DHA is protective against fructose’s harmful effects on the brain. DHA is essential for synaptic function—it helps your brain cells transmit signals to one another, which is the mechanism that makes learning and memory possible. Your body can’t produce enough DHA, so it must be supplemented through your diet.

Fructose Affects More Than Just Memory and Brain Function

It is projected that 42 percent of Americans will be obese by 2030, which is expected to cost the nation roughly half a trillion dollars per year in additional health costs.

Clearly, that will affect YOU, whether you are among the 42 percent or not.The obesity problem cannot be solved by waiting for the food industry to be struck by a wave of altruism. Big business always has and always will be driven by healthy profits, not healthy people. America has cultivated a toxic culture that has written real food and exercise right out of the script.

The facts are sobering:

Americans today consume an average of 600 more calories per day than they did in 1970

Seventy-five percent of Americans now drive to work, a 300 percent increase since 1960

In 1969, 42 percent of kids walked or biked to school, versus less than 20 percent today

Fewer than five percent of adults meet the minimum guidelines for physical activity, and one in four adults gets no physical activity at all

Currently, only four percent of elementary schools, eight percent of middle schools, and two percent of high schools provide physical education

Tips To Tweak Your Diet

Solving this problem is going to require significant changes on personal, community, and nationwide levels. The best first step is to take an honest look at your own personal lifestyle habits—and start making some changes there.
Below are some basic strategies you can implement today.

Avoid as much sugar as possible, especially fructose. This is especially important if you are overweight or have diabetes or pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. Limit your fructose intake to 25 grams per day.

If you want to use a sweetener occasionally, consider using the herb stevia, or organic cane sugar or organic honey in moderation. Avoid agave syrup, as most commercial products are just highly processed sap consisting almost entirely of fructose.

Consume your sugar with fiber. Fiber helps modulate the impact of sugar by slowing absorption. The perfect sweet food is a piece of fruit, which contains fiber as well as beneficial antioxidants.

Eat a well balanced diet, tailored to your specific body type. It should consist of ample raw foods, fresh organic produce, grass pastured meat and dairy, raw nuts and seeds, and naturally fermented foods. Avoid processed foods, genetically engineered foods, and foods with added chemicals.

Get plenty of high quality omega-3 fats from both plant and animal sources. As the study above showed, omega-3′s are crucial to modulating the damaging effects of sugar—and have MANY other benefits. My favorite animal-based omega-3 source is krill oil.

Optimize your vitamin D levels and attempt to spend some time outdoors each day.

Exercise every day. Exercise improves insulin sensitivity, reduces stress and cortisol levels, suppresses ghrelin (the appetite hormone), speeds up your metabolism, strengthens your bones, and even lifts your mood.

Rehydrate with fresh, pure water.

Get plenty of sleep.

Is sugar a sweet old friend that is secretly plotting your demise?

There is a vast sea of research suggesting that it is. Science has now shown us, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that sugar in your food, in all its myriad of forms, is taking a devastating toll on your health.

The single largest source of calories for Americans comes from sugar—specifically high fructose corn syrup. Just take a look at the sugar consumption trends of the past 300 years:[1]

In 1700, the average person consumed about 4 pounds of sugar per year.

In 1800, the average person consumed about 18 pounds of sugar per year.

In 1900, individual consumption had risen to 90 pounds of sugar per year.

In 2009, more than 50 percent of all Americans consume one-half pound of sugar PER DAY—translating to a whopping 180 pounds of sugar per year!

Sugar is loaded into your soft drinks, fruit juices, sports drinks, and hidden in almost all processed foods—from bologna to pretzels to Worcestershire sauce to cheese spread. And now most infant formula has the sugar equivalent of one can of Coca-Cola, so babies are being metabolically poisoned from day one if taking formula.

No wonder there is an obesity epidemic in this country.

Today, 32 percent of Americans are obese and an additional one-third are overweight. Compare that to 1890, when a survey of white males in their fifties revealed an obesity rate of just 3.4 percent. In 1975, the obesity rate in America had reached 15 percent, and since then it has doubled.

Carrying excess weight increases your risk for deadly conditions such as heart disease, kidney disease and diabetes.

In 1893, there were fewer than three cases of diabetes per 100,000 people in the United States. Today, diabetes strikes almost 8,000 out of every 100,000 people.[1]

You don’t have to be a physician or a scientist to notice America’s expanding waistline. All you have to do is stroll through a shopping mall or a schoolyard, or perhaps glance in the mirror.

Eating Fructose is Far Worse than Eating Fat

However, the physiological problems of fructose metabolism extend well beyond a couple of pant sizes:

Fructose elevates uric acid, which decreases nitric oxide, raises angiotensin, and causes your smooth muscle cells to contract, thereby raising your blood pressure and potentially damaging your kidneys.[1]

Increased uric acid also leads to chronic, low-level inflammation, which has far-reaching consequences for your health. For example, chronically inflamed blood vessels lead to heart attacks and strokes; also, a good deal of evidence exists that some cancers are caused by chronic inflammation. (See the next section for more about uric acid.)

Fructose tricks your body into gaining weight by fooling your metabolism—it turns off your body’s appetite-control system. Fructose does not appropriately stimulate insulin, which in turn does not suppress ghrelin (the “hunger hormone”) and doesn’t stimulate leptin (the “satiety hormone”), which together result in your eating more and developing insulin resistance.[3] [4]

Fructose rapidly leads to weight gain and abdominal obesity (“beer belly”), decreased HDL, increased LDL, elevated triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and high blood pressure—i.e., classic metabolic syndrome.

Fructose metabolism is very similar to ethanol metabolism, which has a multitude of toxic effects, including NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease). It’s alcohol without the buzz.

These changes are not seen when humans or animals eat starch (or glucose), suggesting that fructose is a “bad carbohydrate” when consumed in excess of 25 grams per day. It is probably the one factor responsible for the partial success of many “low-carb” diets.

One of the more recent findings that surprised researchers is that glucose actually accelerates fructose absorption, making the potential health risks from HFCS even more profound.[1]

You can now see why fructose is the number one contributing factor to the current obesity epidemic.

I came across this article in a monthly newsletter I receive from Tanya Zavasta and thought it too interesting NOT to share. Please read with intense interest and see just one of the benefits of eating more raw. I would love to hear your comments on this. Nancy

Alexander Ugolev, a famous Russian scientist who devoted his life to studying human digestive physiology, conducted an interesting experiment using two dead frogs: one cooked and one raw. He placed each into a beaker filled with a carnivore’s stomach acid (principally hydrochloric acid, HCl) and recorded the results. The raw frog was completely dissolved, while the cooked frog underwent only a moderate surface change and remained largely intact.

The way most of us have conceived the digestive process since junior high school “health” classes is something like this: Food goes in…body’s acidic gastric juices go to work…juices break down food…body absorbs the good stuff, expels the bad stuff. Implicit here is the notion that food itself is passive in all this, that food gets digested, but doesn’t itself do anything.

Ugolev showed that (apart from the most obvious mode of digestion via our own digestive enzymes) there is also a process of self-digestion of food-”autolysis” is the technical term-carried out by enzymes within the food itself. Here’s the key: While ordinary digestion takes place no matter what we put into our mouths, autolysis happens only when the food we consume is raw.

We do not digest by gastric juices alone. Every living cell is equipped to self-destruct when the conditions for that process are met. The agents of that self-destruction: those very enzymes which are part of every cell’s makeup. A seed, for example, when soaked, uses its activated enzymes to digest the nutrients inside, providing the new seedling with the boost of energy it needs to grow. The seed itself ceases to exist, while the seedling takes off and becomes a new plant. Or think about the carcass of a dead animal: Give it some time, and it will be literally “digested” by its own enzymatic activity, initiated from within.

So what, exactly, happened to the frogs? Once the raw frog made contact with the HCl, Ugolev noted, hydrogen ions from the acid immediately started permeating the animal’s cells, destroying the cells’ lysosomes and releasing the powerful enzymes within. Those enzymes got straight to work, digesting the frog’s body-the very body of which they were part. Working together, the HCl and the animal’s own enzymes were able to completely digest it.

In the case of the cooked frog, its enzymes had been destroyed by heat, and thus the HCL could only affect the external tissues of the animal. When the HCl was chemically exhausted, that was the end of the digestive process. If the hydrochloric acid was solely responsible for digestion, then both frogs would have been totally digested. The raw frog underwent a total digestion thanks to the process of autolysis.

The reason…When you eat raw, you’re eating living food. Food whose enzymes remain ready to work and to extract the full measure of nutrition available in what you’ve so wisely chosen to consume. You’ll enjoy eating nutritious raw foods. But moreover, by lessening your body’s digestive load in this way, you’ll also benefit from a feeling of lightness, bountiful energy, and an almost indescribable sensation of quiet comfort.

It’s a natural law-all life forms were meant to exist on live food. Humans are no exception. Though we’re capable of using cooked food for our needs to some degree, we pay for this compromise in the currency of deteriorating health and hastened aging. Consider this: relentlessly consuming cooked meals is quite literally following the path of our own self-destruction.

What we need instead: food that self-destructs!

For more information about why raw plant food is the best for our physiology see my first book Your Right to Be Beautiful.

My True Will

My children who think they know every step of what I will do in this time will miss My true plan for their lives. Be careful, My children, of thinking you can know all My thoughts, for you know not the full plan and intents I have for each of your lives. My plan and purposes may use ends and means you know not of, which appear to you to be evil, yet are in reality good for My Kingdom.

Many of My children wait anxiously for My Son’s return, yet are not ready for it. You have failed to submit your hearts completely to My plans and purposes, My children. Go into your prayer closets and inquire of Me that I may cleanse your heart of your own desires and replace them with Mine. Seek My true will and inquire before My throne of all that concerns you, for many of you believe your comfort is a right, yet was My Son in comfort as He gave His life for you on the cross at Calvary? Was He in comfort as He took the scourgings that led Him to that place? Was He in comfort when He cried out asking why I had left Him there alone? Was He? Do you think the men and women who followed Him were in comfort after He left the earth and ascended into Heaven? Were they in comfort as they stood for what they believed and were martyred, one by one? As the crowds jeered and threw stones at them? Your expectations are unreasonable, My children. You must face the Cross squarely on. Look at the truth of the cross and do not be deceived, lest the enemy use your unreasonable expectations to make you think I have deserted you in your final hours and you lose your faith.

Those of you who have given Me your lives, I have a plan for. You who are truly submitted, who make no demands or conditions, I shall use greatly. You who are humble. You who are prideful shall travel a different path than My chosen ones. My chosen shall know My glory in this time. They are those who shall do mighty exploits, through whose hands I shall do miracles, signs and wonders. They are those who shall attain to great heights in the earth and be rewarded in heaven for all they lay down for My Name’s sake, for My Son’s great glory.

Look at the Cross, My children, for the truth of what is coming.

Look at the Cross and draw near to Me.

I just got this in from Dr. Joel Furhman and thought it too good not to share with you. Read and eat!

Did you know that mushrooms enhance immune function and protect against cancer?

Mushrooms support the immune system
Mushrooms contain specialized lectins (ABL) that recognize cancer cells, and prevent the cells from growing and dividing.1,2 Mushroom phytochemicals enhance the activity of natural killer cells, which are specialized immune cells that attack and destroy virus-infected and cancerous cells.3

Mushrooms are unique in their breast cancer preventing (anti-aromatase) effects
Frequent consumption of mushrooms (approximately 1 button mushroom per day) has been shown to decrease the risk of breast cancer by 64%.4 Mushrooms are thought to protect against breast cancer particularly because they inhibit an enzyme called aromatase, which produces estrogen. Mushrooms are one of the very few foods that inhibit aromatase (pomegranate is another), and several varieties of mushrooms, especially the commonly eaten white button and portobello mushrooms, have strong anti-aromatase activity.5

Mushrooms protect against all cancers
Consumption of mushrooms does not only protect against breast cancer. In addition to anti-aromatase activity, white, cremini, portobello, oyster, maitake, and reishi mushrooms have all been shown to have a wide variety of anti-cancer properties. These effects have been studied in relation to stomach, colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers.6-14

Mushrooms add unique flavors and textures to vegetable dishes, and are delicious paired with fresh herbs. Combining mushrooms with the onion family, green and cruciferous vegetables, and beans, creates delicious, healthful, and powerfully protective meals. Keep in mind that mushrooms should only be eaten cooked: several raw culinary mushrooms contain a potentially carcinogenic substance called agaritine, and cooking mushrooms significantly reduces their agaritine content. 15,16
</sup>

I discuss the unique health benefits of mushrooms in detail in my book Super Immunity. For an extra immune boost from ten different mushrooms not often available to include in your diet, try my new immune support supplement Immunotect.

Did you know that the Bible has a lot to say about your health? Have you ever thought that God is interested in your health more than you are? Look what He says in 3 John 1:2 - Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.

He loves you so much and wants you to prove Him by exhibiting good health. He has given us all the steps for your journey throughout Scripture and through the writings of other health educators that can help you make better choices for healthier outcomes. There are many old sayings that are apropos to our health, one of which is, “You are what you eat”, and another, “You keep doin’ what you’re doin’, you’ll keep gettin’ what you got”. That goes for your physical health, your mental health and your spiritual health. Think about that for a moment and just let it sink in.

Here are some more helpful quotes that I think you will find life changing.

Gen 1:29 - And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

As one very knowledgeable health educator wrote back in the late 1800′s regarding information on “The Health Message”:

“Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.” Ministry of Healing 296, 471

“Let them impart this knowledge as they would Bible instruction. Let them preserve the health and increase the strength by avoiding the large amount of cooking which has filled the world with chronic invalids. We are coming to the time when recipes for cooking will not be needed, for God’s people will learn that the food God gave Adam in his sinless state is the best for keeping the body in a sinless state.” (Manuscript Release 21, page 286)

“Teach the people to preserve the health and increase the strength by avoiding the large amount of cooking that has filled the world with chronic invalids. By precept and example make it plain that the food which God gave Adam in his sinless state is the best for man’s use as he seeks to regain that sinless state.” (Testimonies vol. 7, pg 135)

What is your choice?
